The INTEGRAL ProjectThe INTEGRAL project is the next ESA M2 mission which is dedicated to the fine spectroscopy and imaging of celestial gamma-ray sources. It is an observatory mission with only 25% of the time being PI time. The INTEGRAL payload consists of 4 main instruments :

Southampton INTEGRAL PeopleThe Southampton team is currently involved in both the IBIS instrument, Science Data Centre and and the INTEGRAL Mass Model Project. The INTEGRAL team at Southampton currently consists of 5 members of staff and 4 research students, although we hope to increase that number in the near future. The members of staff are :

The Southampton IBIS Involvement
The Southampton group originally developed much of the concept for the
imager on INTEGRAL, and still are involved in what has now become the
IBIS instrument. Tony Bird is a Co-I on the IBIS team with
involvement in the following areas:

The INTEGRAL Science Data CenterSouthampton is also involved in the ISDC, with a Co-I position with responsibility to co-ordinate the simulation activities within the ISDC and the rest of the science ground segment. |

The INTEGRAL Mass ModelThe INTEGRAL Mass Model project is primarily aimed at providing an independent and uniform assessment of the INTEGRAL payload for ESA. The project is being run by Southampton. Click here for more information on the Mass Model project. |
